Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA+
Grand theft in the 103rd pick: the Bears steal Jackson and grade out a A-. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bears came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
On value alone, Jackson makes the weekend a net positive. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Bishop to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The kind of weekend a front office frames and hangs on the wall.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick 4 they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
Pick27
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
They paid sticker price for Jordan Morgan in pick No. 35, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick36
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
By-the-book stuff, Ja'Tavion Sanders at slot 36 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick40
Rnd2
J.J. McCarthy
J.J. McCarthy at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick67
Rnd3
Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske in No. 67 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick75
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at pick No. 75, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick99
Rnd3
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in pick 99 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick101
Rnd4
Trey Benson
Fair-plus on Trey Benson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
The board fumbled Khyree Jackson all the way to Round 4, Pick 3, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick109
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
Nice patience on Leonard Taylor III, who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick121
Rnd4
Javon Foster
Javon Foster in No. 121 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
