Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bears were there to profit. Jarrian Jones, the No. 136 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 222nd overall pick.

So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The phones were where this weekend was really won.

That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Reaching for Rice left real value on the table behind him.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
