The search is over. The Bears handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will need Smith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
