JChapman79 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Packers and Greenfield: B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Garret Greenfield, the No. 216 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 245.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Shirden has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In pick No. 25 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value.
Pick41
Rnd2
Javon Bullard
By-the-book stuff, Javon Bullard at No. 41 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick58
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick88
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia at slot 88 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick91
Rnd3
Devontez Walker
Somehow Devontez Walker was still sitting there in the 91st overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick126
Rnd4
Elijah Jones
The board had Elijah Jones higher than pick 126, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick169
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
A premium they did not need to pay, Ty'Ron Hopper a notch or two before his time. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick202
Rnd6
Myles Cole
A reasonable price with a little left over, Myles Cole in the 202nd pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick219
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
A clean, defensible pick in the 219th overall pick with a little surplus value in Nathaniel Watson. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick245
Rnd7
Garret Greenfield
They barely believed it either: Garret Greenfield still on the board at slot 245. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jaden Shirden
Jaden Shirden at Round 7, Pick 35 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
