Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Ravens. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Ravens reached some 120 spots for Jalen Rivers, and value like that does not grow back.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a premier pass rusher. A real need, handled.
Pick59
Rnd2
Armand Membou
They paid sticker price for Armand Membou in No. 59, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick91
Rnd3
Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas in the 91st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick127
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at slot 127 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick135
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at pick 135 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick174
Rnd5
Joshua Gray
A straight-up fair deal on Joshua Gray at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick182
Rnd6
Ryan Fitzgerald
Somehow Ryan Fitzgerald was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier specialist value. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick201
Rnd6
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley in pick No. 201 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick207
Rnd6
Jalen Rivers
They reached a country mile for Jalen Rivers at the 207th overall pick, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jonas Sanker
They let Jonas Sanker come to them and pounced at pick 211. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick243
Rnd7
Jake Briningstool
Taking Jake Briningstool in slot 243 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick251
Rnd7
Nick Nash
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nick Nash. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
