Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Ravens: B-. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Ravens took Jalen Rivers a full 138 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Singleton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jahdae Barron at Round 1, Pick 27. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in pick 58 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick91
Rnd3
Kaimon Rucker
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kaimon Rucker. It fills a real need, too.
Pick127
Rnd4
Luke Kandra
Steal is underselling it; Luke Kandra at slot 127 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick135
Rnd4
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins at pick No. 135 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick174
Rnd5
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton in the 174th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick175
Rnd5
Tonka Hemingway
They reached a country mile for Tonka Hemingway at pick No. 175, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick182
Rnd6
Jalen Rivers
Jalen Rivers at pick 182 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick201
Rnd6
Elijah Arroyo
A tidy bit of business in Round 6, Pick 26, where Elijah Arroyo graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick225
Rnd7
Nick Nash
Nick Nash at the 225th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick228
Rnd7
Shaun Dolac
Shaun Dolac in slot 228 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick243
Rnd7
Alijah Clark
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Alijah Clark worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
