Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Packers let Cowing fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jacob Cowing, the No. 178 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 17. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

Lindberg has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Packers indulged a want in Smith while a need in quarterback and tight end stayed open.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In slot 19 they get an island corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
Nice patience on Troy Fautanu, who had no business lasting to No. 48. It fills a real need, too.
Pick52 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock at Round 2, Pick 20 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick83 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick92 Rnd3 Tykee Smith
A curious use of the 92nd pick. Quarterback and tight end needed the pick; a safety in Tykee Smith did not.
Pick96 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in the 96th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick119 Rnd4 Junior Colson
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 119 with a little surplus value in Junior Colson. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick120 Rnd4 Cedric Johnson
A real head-scratcher, Cedric Johnson in pick 120 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick135 Rnd4 Mike Sainristil
A straight-up fair deal on Mike Sainristil at No. 135, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick197 Rnd6 Moose Muhammad III
The board fumbled Moose Muhammad III all the way to pick No. 197, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick217 Rnd6 Zion Logue
They talked themselves into Zion Logue at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick219 Rnd6 Chad Lindberg
Chad Lindberg at the 219th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing at the 237th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick240 Rnd7 Nathaniel Watson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Nathaniel Watson at Round 7, Pick 20 is the proof. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
