Grand theft in the 170th overall pick: the Cardinals steal Jones Jr. and grade out a B-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Emery Jones Jr. got past him. The Cardinals do not have to explain a thing at Round 5, Pick 31.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In pick No. 16 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
No edge and no loss on JT Tuimoloau in the 47th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick78
Rnd3
Jack Bech
The board had Jack Bech higher than pick 78, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick114
Rnd4
Charles Grant
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Charles Grant worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick170
Rnd5
Emery Jones Jr.
Circle this one: Emery Jones Jr. at Round 5, Pick 31 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser is a better player than slot 211 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
