A franchise passer in McCarthy headlines a B weekend for the Patriots.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

If Duke pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
