FutureA
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B+. The Bears spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
If Smith pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The phones were where this weekend was really won. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
They banked enough surplus on Hart to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In pick No. 9 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick13
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Pick44
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
The board had cheaper options than Kingsley Suamataia at No. 44, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75
Rnd3
Maason Smith
Value said wait; Maason Smith in slot 75 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122
Rnd4
Cam Hart
Steal is underselling it; Cam Hart at the 122nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
