Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
B
ValueB-

FutureB-
The Cowboys robbed the room for Clark. Final grade: B. Whoever sat across the table from the Cowboys should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They banked enough surplus on Clark to cover a lot of smaller sins. They are betting Wilson proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The Isaac pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback still on the board. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Jared Verse
A quiet steal in the Round 1 slot: Jared Verse for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick58
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
They took Kingsley Suamataia at par in the 58th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick84
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
No drama and no debate, TreVeyon Henderson went about where he belonged in pick No. 84. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick89
Rnd3
Adisa Isaac
A surprising call. With quarterback still to address, they spent No. 89 on Adisa Isaac, an edge rusher they were not short of.
Pick90
Rnd3
Cam Hart
Cam Hart in Round 3, Pick 27 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick91
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
Value said wait; Roman Wilson in pick 91 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick92
Rnd3
Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse in the 92nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick126
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Brenden Rice in slot 126. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick166
Rnd5
McCallan Castles
A tidy little value on McCallan Castles in Round 5, Pick 30, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick174
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick212
Rnd6
Miles Frazier
A straight-up fair deal on Miles Frazier at No. 212, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick247
Rnd7
De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark at pick 247 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
