FutureB-
The Cowboys kept it disciplined and banked a B. The Cowboys' one glaring miss is quarterback, a need they left exactly as they found it. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They will need Reimer to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Xavier Worthy
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick62
Rnd2
Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at the 62nd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick93
Rnd3
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in No. 93 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
They paid up for Marshawn Kneeland at pick No. 94 when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick95
Rnd3
Devontez Walker
A reach for Devontez Walker in pick 95; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick130
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Smael Mondon Jr. at the 130th pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick131
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
A premium they did not need to pay, Beaux Limmer a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick134
Rnd4
Nehemiah Pritchett
Nehemiah Pritchett at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick174
Rnd5
Michael Barrett
The board had cheaper options than Michael Barrett at No. 174, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick212
Rnd6
Luke Reimer
Value said wait; Luke Reimer in pick 212 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick251
Rnd7
Benjamin Yurosek
They jumped the gun on Benjamin Yurosek, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
