FutureB-
The Cowboys turned the phones into found money: B. The Cowboys clearly saw something nobody else did in Xavier Thomas, taking him 50 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
Terrion Arnold at the 31st pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jack Sawyer
They paid up for Jack Sawyer at the 58th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick62
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in pick 62 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick89
Rnd3
Graham Barton
Graham Barton at slot 89 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick90
Rnd3
Smael Mondon Jr.
A premium they did not need to pay, Smael Mondon Jr. a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick91
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Roman Wilson in No. 91, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick94
Rnd3
Jalen McMillan
Jalen McMillan at the Round 3 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick126
Rnd4
Cade Stover
Cade Stover at Round 4, Pick 26 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick131
Rnd4
T.J. Sanders
A conviction pick on T.J. Sanders at pick No. 131 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick174
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
A tidy little value on Kamal Hadden in pick 174, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick212
Rnd6
Xavier Thomas
A wild overpay on Xavier Thomas in slot 212, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick247
Rnd7
LaDarius Henderson
LaDarius Henderson in No. 247 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
