The Cowboys won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B+.

The Cowboys ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

Every board in the league had Wilson lower, and that gap is the story. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

However the rest shakes out, Franklin at that price is a win they earned. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

In pick 30 they get juice off the edge, and a steal at that. More want than need.

Troy Franklin is a better player than the 46th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

Tyler Davis at the 89th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.

They paid a round early for Payton Wilson in No. 90, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

They paid sticker price for Max Melton in slot 91, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

They jumped the gun on Audric Estime, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
