Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Ravens let Fitzgerald fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. When a board-topper like Ryan Fitzgerald slides to pick No. 243, you do not overthink it, and the Ravens did not.
The Morris pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Omarion Hampton
In the 27th overall pick they get a centerpiece for the ground game, outstanding value to boot.
Pick59
Rnd2
Ajani Cornelius
They reached into another round for Ajani Cornelius, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick91
Rnd3
Darien Porter
Darien Porter in No. 91 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick127
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
They talked themselves into DeMonte Capehart at the 127th pick, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick135
Rnd4
Chase Lundt
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Chase Lundt well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick174
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin in Round 5, Pick 37 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick181
Rnd6
Elijah Arroyo
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Elijah Arroyo. The roster fit checks out.
Pick201
Rnd6
Cam Skattebo
A running back of that caliber at pick No. 201 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick207
Rnd6
Nick Nash
This one needs a full-page explanation: Nick Nash in No. 207, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick211
Rnd6
Micah Morris
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Micah Morris. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick243
Rnd7
Ryan Fitzgerald
Ryan Fitzgerald in slot 243 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
