Derek Kane DRAFTING FOR THEDolphins

Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall
A
ValueA-

FutureA+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Dolphins for Nestor: A. The Dolphins did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and John Nestor fell into No. 247.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They are betting Guarnera proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, with Cayden Green leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Cayden Green
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, outstanding value to boot.
Pick34
Rnd2
Yhonzae Pierre
Yhonzae Pierre at No. 34 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick37
Rnd2
Julian Sayin
They robbed the room for Julian Sayin here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick57
Rnd2
Justin Scott
Circle this one: Justin Scott at the 57th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick62
Rnd2
Kade Pieper
The board had Kade Pieper higher than the 62nd overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jamari Johnson
Somehow Jamari Johnson was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 1, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick89
Rnd3
Nick Marsh
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Nick Marsh in pick 89, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94
Rnd3
Kewan Lacy
The board fumbled Kewan Lacy all the way to slot 94, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick105
Rnd4
Rasheem Biles
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 105 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick139
Rnd5
Luke Montgomery
Luke Montgomery at pick No. 139 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick154
Rnd5
Anthony Evans III
Anthony Evans III in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick181
Rnd6
Drake Lindsey
Drake Lindsey in the 181st overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick224
Rnd7
Jake Guarnera
They paid a round early for Jake Guarnera in slot 224, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Pick247
Rnd7
John Nestor
They will replay John Nestor at Round 7, Pick 26 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick255
Rnd7
Sheridan Wilson
They took Sheridan Wilson at par in pick 255, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
