You could see the war room lean forward. Ajani Cornelius at pick No. 209 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

Job largely done: quarterback settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
