There is conviction, and then there is this. The Panthers took Trey Moore a full 60 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
