Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

A solid, sensible weekend for the Commanders: B-. The Jaishawn Barham pick is the one that will follow the Commanders into the fall. They took him 47 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
The Klein steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Keldric Faulk
They took Keldric Faulk at par in pick 7, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick71
Rnd3
Jaishawn Barham
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaishawn Barham this early at the 71st overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick145
Rnd5
Kage Casey
By-the-book stuff, Kage Casey at pick No. 145 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick185
Rnd6
Red Murdock
No drama and no debate, Red Murdock went about where he belonged in the 185th pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick196
Rnd6
Marlin Klein
Marlin Klein at No. 196 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick223
Rnd7
Dane Key
Dane Key is a better player than slot 223 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
