The Browns cashed the board's mistake on Stone: A. Somebody in the Round 2 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Browns sat still while David Stone, the No. 19 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The cost of the Brahmer reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Cam Coleman
In pick No. 18 they get a true top target, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick30
Rnd1
Will Echoles
In slot 30 they get an anchor for the defensive front at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick63
Rnd2
David Stone
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at No. 63 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick80
Rnd3
Jayden Maiava
A tidy little value on Jayden Maiava in pick 80, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick89
Rnd3
Samson Okunlola
Fair-plus on Samson Okunlola, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick95
Rnd3
Greg Johnson
The board fumbled Greg Johnson all the way to Round 3, Pick 31, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Cam Cook
They went early on Cam Cook in the 122nd pick, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick189
Rnd6
Benjamin Brahmer
The board had cheaper options than Benjamin Brahmer at the Round 6 slot, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick225
Rnd7
Edrees Farooq
Edrees Farooq in No. 225 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
