Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueC- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Browns fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B.

Nobody had Braylan Shelby this high, and it is not close. The Browns reached 71 spots to get him at the 149th pick. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

The Steve Avila deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick26 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
Nothing to complain about; Carnell Tate went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick29 Rnd1 Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette at pick No. 29 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick40 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at No. 40 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick71 Rnd3 Eric Singleton Jr.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Eric Singleton Jr.. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick106 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for DeMonte Capehart. The roster fit checks out.
Pick143 Rnd5 Jude Bowry
They did well to land Jude Bowry in the 143rd pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick149 Rnd5 Braylan Shelby
They reached into another round for Braylan Shelby, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
