Draft Grade — Bears
Overall C
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
A passer of the future in Williams, and a C, for the Bears.

The Bears spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C in the wash.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Landing Pearsall that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

They will need Jackson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick No. 2 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick8 Rnd1 Laiatu Latu
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get juice off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick69 Rnd3 Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier in the Round 3 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick105 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Khyree Jackson in No. 105, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick128 Rnd4 Brenden Rice
A quiet steal in the 128th pick: Brenden Rice for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick142 Rnd5 James Williams
Quietly one of the better values of the day, James Williams at slot 142. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick145 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
Fair-plus on Nehemiah Pritchett, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick186 Rnd6 Tre Harris
Steal is underselling it; Tre Harris at pick 186 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick226 Rnd7 Kaimon Rucker
Kaimon Rucker in the 226th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick229 Rnd7 Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall at pick 229 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
