The steal of the weekend belongs to the 49ers and Beck: B.

Call it larceny. Carson Beck sat on the board until pick 94, and the 49ers did not need to be asked twice. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Hunter proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

In the 30th overall pick they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61 Rnd2 Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad in the 61st pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It adds depth where they could use a little.

They will replay Carson Beck at slot 94 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.

Lee Hunter at No. 173 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

A straight-up fair deal on Dane Key at Round 5, Pick 40, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

The board had cheaper options than Amare Campbell at No. 205, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
