FutureB-
The Vikings bet the future on Nix. The board says B. Start where it matters. The Vikings took Bo Nix to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
They will need Cole to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Brade falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In No. 11 they get a franchise quarterback, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in Round 2, Pick 24 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick87
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
They read the board right and Malachi Corley was the payoff at the 87th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick109
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
A reach on Darius Robinson in pick 109; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick130
Rnd4
Beau Brade
Beau Brade at slot 130 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick145
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
They took Ben Sinnott at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick157
Rnd5
Javion Cohen
Nothing to complain about; Javion Cohen went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick173
Rnd5
LaDarius Henderson
LaDarius Henderson in pick No. 173 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick177
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
They jumped the gun on Curtis Jacobs, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick179
Rnd6
Javon Baker
By-the-book stuff, Javon Baker at Round 6, Pick 4 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick217
Rnd6
Jaylen Harrell
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylen Harrell in slot 217. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick227
Rnd7
Myles Cole
Myles Cole at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
