Draft Grade — Bears

FutureB
The Bears bet the future on Daniels. The board says B+. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
They are betting Smith proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
With interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them. They banked enough surplus on Pearl to cover a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 4 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In No. 9 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In pick 27 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan in Round 2, Pick 2 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick36
Rnd2
Kool-Aid McKinstry
Kool-Aid McKinstry slid further than he should have, and the 36th overall pick is lovely value for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75
Rnd3
Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick78
Rnd3
Maason Smith
A want over a need in slot 78: Maason Smith adds a DT-EDGE while interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick122
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
By-the-book stuff, Johnny Wilson at the 122nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick222
Rnd7
Julian Pearl
You do not let an OT-EDGE like Julian Pearl reach No. 222 and blink. They did not. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
