The Patriots spent the pick that matters most on J.J. McCarthy, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Means reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Adding Tee Higgins by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
