Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall A
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
The Dolphins cashed the board's mistake on Echoles: A.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Will Echoles got past him. The Dolphins do not have to explain a thing at the Round 5 slot.

The Vonnahme pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

In the end it comes back to Matayo Uiagalelei, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Matayo Uiagalelei
In pick No. 25 they get a disruptor off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Justin Scott
Justin Scott at Round 2, Pick 4 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick67 Rnd3 Austin Siereveld
Austin Siereveld in pick 67 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick91 Rnd3 Kewan Lacy
Kewan Lacy at No. 91 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick104 Rnd4 Raylen Wilson
Raylen Wilson in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick126 Rnd4 Braylon Staley
Braylon Staley at the 126th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick138 Rnd5 Drake Lindsey
A reach on Drake Lindsey in slot 138; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick153 Rnd5 Will Echoles
Somehow Will Echoles was still sitting there in the 153rd overall pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick186 Rnd6 Shadre Hurst
They robbed the room for Shadre Hurst here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick244 Rnd7 DJ Vonnahme
A wild overpay on DJ Vonnahme in Round 7, Pick 25, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick254 Rnd7 Kamari Wilson
You do not let a safety like Kamari Wilson reach pick No. 254 and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
