Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall A
ValueA- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA+
Grand theft in No. 97: the Dolphins steal Chambliss and grade out a A.

Somebody in the Round 3 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Dolphins sat still while Trinidad Chambliss, the No. 50 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

The kind of weekend a front office frames and hangs on the wall.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Carter Smith
In the 17th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Trey'Dez Green
Trey'Dez Green in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick58 Rnd2 Justin Scott
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Justin Scott reach slot 58 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jadan Baugh
Jadan Baugh at pick 67 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick89 Rnd3 Princewill Umanmielen
A straight-up fair deal on Princewill Umanmielen at No. 89, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick97 Rnd3 Trinidad Chambliss
The board fumbled Trinidad Chambliss all the way to Round 3, Pick 33, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick104 Rnd4 Rasheem Biles
Taking Rasheem Biles in the 104th pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. This was not a hole anyone had circled.
Pick111 Rnd4 Greg Johnson
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Greg Johnson in pick No. 111, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick138 Rnd5 Devin McCuin
No drama and no debate, Devin McCuin went about where he belonged in slot 138. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick159 Rnd5 Drayk Bowen
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Drayk Bowen at pick 159 is the proof. Not a spot anyone had flagged, which makes it a head-scratcher.
Pick186 Rnd6 Robert Fitzgerald
Somehow Robert Fitzgerald was still sitting there in the 186th overall pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. The roster logic is harder to follow.
Pick234 Rnd7 Elinneus Davis
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Elinneus Davis in the Round 7 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick246 Rnd7 Landen Hatchett
They did well to land Landen Hatchett in pick No. 246, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick253 Rnd7 Jay'Vion Cole
Jay'Vion Cole is a better player than No. 253 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
