Draft Grade — Jets

FutureA
The Jets cashed the board's mistake on Howard: A-. When a board-topper like Will Howard slides to the 146th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Jets did not. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the Round 1 slot they get a mismatch in the passing game, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick43
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at pick 43 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick58
Rnd2
Marcus Mbow
A reasonable price with a little left over, Marcus Mbow in Round 2, Pick 26. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick89
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at pick No. 89 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick92
Rnd3
Donovan Ezeiruaku
They barely believed it either: Donovan Ezeiruaku still on the board at the 92nd overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick99
Rnd3
Darien Porter
Darien Porter at the 99th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick109
Rnd4
Tai Felton
You do not let a wide receiver like Tai Felton reach No. 109 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick146
Rnd5
Will Howard
Taking Will Howard in slot 146 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick157
Rnd5
Darius Alexander
The board fumbled Darius Alexander all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick188
Rnd6
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in the 188th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Pick209
Rnd6
Chimere Dike
Good price on Chimere Dike in slot 209, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
