Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
B+
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesA+
FutureB
The Cowboys turned the phones into found money: B+. The Cowboys clearly saw something nobody else did in Jordan White, taking him 36 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Getting Coleman where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
Chris Brazzell II in slot 20 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick25
Rnd1
LT Overton
In No. 25 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 19: Anthony Hill Jr. for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick79
Rnd3
Jonah Coleman
They barely believed it either: Jonah Coleman still on the board at pick 79. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick114
Rnd4
Domani Jackson
Good price on Domani Jackson in the 114th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick154
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at the Round 5 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick171
Rnd5
Monroe Mills
Monroe Mills at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick176
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa in No. 176 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick200
Rnd6
Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart in Round 6, Pick 21 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219
Rnd7
Jalon Daniels
Jalon Daniels at the 219th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick229
Rnd7
Brett Norfleet
Brett Norfleet at the 229th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick231
Rnd7
Jordan White
A wild overpay on Jordan White in pick 231, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
