Draft Grade — Texans

FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Texans: B-. There is a lot to like until you notice edge rusher is still a hole. The Texans never got to the one that mattered most. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They will need Roberts to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Gennings Dunker
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a building block for the line, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald at pick 39 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick46
Rnd2
Jonah Coleman
Jonah Coleman at pick No. 46 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick67
Rnd3
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts in the 67th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick107
Rnd4
Justice Haynes
Good price on Justice Haynes in No. 107, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick115
Rnd4
Earl Little Jr.
Earl Little Jr. in slot 115 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick154
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
By-the-book stuff, Chase Roberts at the 154th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick229
Rnd7
Amare Campbell
They took Amare Campbell at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick232
Rnd7
Jerry Wilson
Jerry Wilson at the 232nd pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
