Best value of the weekend goes to the Chiefs for Allen: A-. When a board-topper like Braelon Allen slides to slot 252, you do not overthink it, and the Chiefs did not. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Marvin Harrison Jr. and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In slot 31 they get a go-to option on the outside, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell in Round 2, Pick 31 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson in the 94th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick131
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea in pick 131 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick161
Rnd5
Theo Johnson
They read the board right and Theo Johnson was the payoff at No. 161. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick209
Rnd6
Julian Pearl
Taking Julian Pearl in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick252
Rnd7
Braelon Allen
Circle this one: Braelon Allen at the 252nd pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
