Draft Grade — Seahawks

FutureB
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Emmanwori from sliding. Grade: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Nick Emmanwori had no business being available in the 59th pick, and the Seahawks did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They are betting Cooper proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the 18th overall pick they get a moveable chess piece at tight end. A real need, handled.
Pick52
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau in the 52nd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick59
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at pick No. 59 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick91
Rnd3
Charles Grant
They took Charles Grant at par in slot 91, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at No. 92 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick129
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tez Johnson in Round 4, Pick 27, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick136
Rnd4
Kobe King
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Kobe King worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick137
Rnd4
Cody Simon
Cody Simon in pick 137 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick172
Rnd5
Tyler Shough
Circle this one: Tyler Shough at the 172nd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jalen Rivers
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jalen Rivers at Round 5, Pick 37. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick176
Rnd5
Tyler Cooper
They talked themselves into Tyler Cooper at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick203
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
They paid sticker price for Joshua Gray in slot 203, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick223
Rnd7
Alijah Huzzie
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Alijah Huzzie. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick234
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
A straight-up fair deal on Isaac TeSlaa at pick No. 234, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
