Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA- FutureA-
The Cowboys cashed the board's mistake on Thornton Jr.: B+.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Dont'e Thornton Jr., the No. 182 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 204. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Biggers proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Adding Tyler Allgeier by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 15 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Omarion Hampton at No. 44. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick76 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick149 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
A slide stopped in pick No. 149, with Malachi Moore worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick174 Rnd5 RJ Harvey
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing RJ Harvey in the 174th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick204 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 204th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick228 Rnd7 Ricky White III
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 12, where Ricky White III graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick236 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
A premium they did not need to pay, Zeek Biggers a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick239 Rnd7 Bilhal Kone
Value with a capital V on Bilhal Kone in No. 239, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick247 Rnd7 CJ Dippre
They did well to land CJ Dippre in the Round 7 slot, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
