The phones were a trap the Bengals kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Jones Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
