Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: A-. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Bears' quarterback, full stop. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They banked enough surplus on Fuaga to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Caleb Williams and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In pick No. 1 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick30
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Taliese Fuaga at the Round 1 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick75
Rnd3
Blake Corum
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Blake Corum. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick122
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in the 122nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick228
Rnd7
Steele Chambers
By-the-book stuff, Steele Chambers at the 228th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
