FutureB-
The Bills let Felton fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bills were there to profit. Tai Felton, the No. 99 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 4 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
With linebacker, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Every board in the league had Reed lower, and that gap is the story.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In slot 30 they get a load in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick62
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
A reach for Maxwell Hairston in pick 62; a little patience would have been rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick66
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Value with a capital V on Alfred Collins in the 66th pick, a genuine coup. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick95
Rnd3
Darien Porter
A want over a need in pick No. 95: Darien Porter adds a cornerback while linebacker, edge rusher and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick109
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
No drama and no debate, Cam Skattebo went about where he belonged in No. 109. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick132
Rnd4
Tai Felton
Tai Felton in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick134
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors in the 134th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jaylen Reed
They paid up for Jaylen Reed at Round 5, Pick 35 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
