Cblue DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Seahawks a B. The Seahawks clearly saw something nobody else did in Jackson Slater, taking him 55 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
The Brooks pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In pick No. 18 they get a double-digit-sack hope. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks in pick 50 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
A tidy bit of business in the 52nd pick, where Jihaad Campbell graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick82
Rnd3
Charles Grant
A reach for Charles Grant in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92
Rnd3
Jackson Slater
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jackson Slater. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick137
Rnd4
Mello Dotson
They took Mello Dotson at par in the 137th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick172
Rnd5
Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt at pick No. 172 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick175
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams at the 175th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick223
Rnd7
Tahj Brooks
They will replay Tahj Brooks at slot 223 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick234
Rnd7
Kyle Monangai
Somehow Kyle Monangai was still sitting there in pick 234, and they pounced on premier running back value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
