The Chiefs cashed the board's mistake on Sadiq: B+. Whoever sat across the table from the Chiefs should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will answer for taking cornerback early while offensive lineman, running back and other spots went begging. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Sadiq.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In No. 13 they get a press-man option on the boundary. More want than need.
Pick40
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
You do not let a tight end like Kenyon Sadiq reach the 40th pick and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick74
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing A.J. Haulcy in pick No. 74. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick109
Rnd4
Chandler Rivers
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Chandler Rivers adds a cornerback and leaves offensive lineman, running back and other spots untouched.
Pick147
Rnd5
CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels is a better player than the 147th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick177
Rnd5
Taylen Green
A tidy little value on Taylen Green in Round 5, Pick 38, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
