Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Mendoza is the Jets' new face under center. Grade: B-.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Jets committed. Fernando Mendoza is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.

For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Reese value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get their guy under center for the next decade, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick28 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
Nice patience on Arvell Reese, who had no business lasting to slot 28. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick35 Rnd2 Christen Miller
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Christen Miller at pick 35. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick45 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
They paid sticker price for Olaivavega Ioane in No. 45, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick104 Rnd4 Adon Shuler
Adon Shuler at the 104th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick177 Rnd5 Aaron Anderson
A straight-up fair deal on Aaron Anderson at the 177th pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick200 Rnd6 Earnest Greene III
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Earnest Greene III at pick No. 200 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Pick202 Rnd6 Bud Clark
No edge and no loss on Bud Clark in the Round 6 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick210 Rnd6 Isaiah Nwokobia
Isaiah Nwokobia in No. 210 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick216 Rnd7 Raylen Wilson
Raylen Wilson in pick No. 216 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick236 Rnd7 DeAndre Moore Jr.
The board had DeAndre Moore Jr. higher than the 236th pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick254 Rnd7 Brett Norfleet
Brett Norfleet at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick256 Rnd7 A'Marion Peterson
A'Marion Peterson at slot 256 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
