The Bears won the night they stopped Bassa from sliding. Grade: B+.

You build a draft on nights like this. Jeffrey Bassa had no business being available in slot 228, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

The cost of the Mahlman reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The veteran additions, Nico Collins chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
