Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The phones sank the 49ers this weekend: D-.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Keith Randolph Jr. at the Round 6 slot, a reach of 42 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Getting Wallace where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 JC Latham
In the 14th pick they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick31 Rnd1 Xavier Legette
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier in pick 63 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick108 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick124 Rnd4 Dylan Laube
A wild overpay on Dylan Laube in slot 124, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick131 Rnd4 Christian Jones
They took Christian Jones at par in No. 131, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick164 Rnd5 Layden Robinson
Layden Robinson at No. 164 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick176 Rnd6 Keith Randolph Jr.
Value said wait; Keith Randolph Jr. in pick No. 176 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick211 Rnd6 Myles Murphy
They jumped the gun on Myles Murphy, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick215 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on JD Bertrand. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick251 Rnd7 Trevin Wallace
Trevin Wallace in slot 251 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
