Dougula12 DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks

Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB
FutureB-
The Seahawks let Suamataia fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Call it larceny. Kingsley Suamataia sat on the board until pick No. 81, and the Seahawks did not need to be asked twice. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The cost of the Wiley reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In pick 21 they get protection for the quarterback, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick55
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
By-the-book stuff, Braden Fiske at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick81
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
You do not let an offensive lineman like Kingsley Suamataia reach No. 81 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick113
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at slot 113 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick118
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop slid further than he should have, and the 118th overall pick is lovely value for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick179
Rnd6
Jordan Travis
Good price on Jordan Travis in pick No. 179, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick192
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley in Round 6, Pick 17 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick235
Rnd7
Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. at the 235th pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
