After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They will need Elliss to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
