FutureC+
The Steelers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Steelers, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging. Reaching for Frazier left real value on the table behind him.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Colson.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner. A real need, handled.
Pick51
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
They paid up for Zach Frazier at No. 51 when waiting would have done the job. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick84
Rnd3
Junior Colson
Junior Colson at the 84th overall pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90
Rnd3
Mason McCormick
Of all the spots to shop, they chose offensive lineman. Mason McCormick in pick 90 leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots for later.
Pick96
Rnd3
Cade Stover
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE and leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
Pick99
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in slot 99 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
