Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Dolphins answered their biggest question with Allar. Grade: D-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Dolphins reached some 55 spots for Davison Igbinosun, and value like that does not grow back. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. So much rides on Drew Allar that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him.

Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

On value alone, Ramsey makes the weekend a net positive.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
In pick 5 they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick15 Rnd1 Drew Allar
In No. 15 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq in the 37th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick47 Rnd2 Malik Muhammad
No edge and no loss on Malik Muhammad in the 47th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick67 Rnd3 Sonny Styles
A big swing on Sonny Styles at slot 67, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick79 Rnd3 Kamari Ramsey
They robbed the room for Kamari Ramsey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick84 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Zakee Wheatley adds a safety and leaves edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
Pick115 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
A surprising call. With edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent the Round 4 slot on Davison Igbinosun, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick154 Rnd5 Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart at No. 154 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick193 Rnd6 Xavier Nwankpa
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Nwankpa at slot 193 squarely in line with his ranking. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick228 Rnd7 Fernando Carmona
Fernando Carmona at Round 7, Pick 12 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
