Leavitt should have been long gone. The Dolphins pounced, and earned a B-.

The board owed the Dolphins one, and it paid up: Sam Leavitt, the No. 73 name on the board, sitting there at the 112th pick like a gift left on the doorstep.

If Freeling pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The dealing was even money, start to finish.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
