Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall
D-
ValueB-

TradesF
FutureB-
The Dolphins let Higgins fall and pounced. Final grade: D-. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Dolphins shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Put together, it is a D-.
They will need Lampkin to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
However the rest shakes out, Higgins at that price is a win they earned.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Josh Simmons
In the 13th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick48
Rnd2
Benjamin Morrison
Benjamin Morrison in the 48th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick68
Rnd3
Jaylin Noel
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylin Noel in pick No. 68. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick85
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins at No. 85 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick98
Rnd3
Quinn Ewers
They did well to land Quinn Ewers in Round 3, Pick 34, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick116
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
They will replay Darius Alexander at slot 116 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick122
Rnd4
Kobe King
No edge and no loss on Kobe King in the 122nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick135
Rnd4
Mitchell Evans
They paid a round early for Mitchell Evans in slot 135, more than the board wanted. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick150
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin in Round 5, Pick 12 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick155
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
They reached a country mile for Ajani Cornelius at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. The roster fit checks out.
Pick224
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris at the 224th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick231
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
Steal is underselling it; Donovan Edwards at pick 231 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick253
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Somehow Isaac TeSlaa was still sitting there in No. 253, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
