Draft Grade — Jets
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB- TradesF FutureA
The Jets got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Jets reached some 43 spots for Joey Aguilar, and value like that does not grow back. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Hecht pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick103 Rnd4 Sam Hecht
Steal is underselling it; Sam Hecht at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick178 Rnd5 Oscar Delp
They jumped the gun on Oscar Delp, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick192 Rnd6 Nate Boerkircher
A quiet steal in the 192nd overall pick: Nate Boerkircher for less than the market said. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick206 Rnd6 Dallen Bentley
Nice patience on Dallen Bentley, who had no business lasting to the 206th pick. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick217 Rnd7 Miles Kitselman
They paid sticker price for Miles Kitselman in pick No. 217, and that is fine. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick218 Rnd7 Jalon Daniels
They paid up for Jalon Daniels at slot 218 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick231 Rnd7 TJ Hall
Quietly one of the better values of the day, TJ Hall at slot 231. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick242 Rnd7 Joey Aguilar
Joey Aguilar at pick 242 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
