Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
C+
ValueD+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Browns land in the muddy middle: C+. Nobody had Elliot Washington II this high, and it is not close. The Browns reached 64 spots to get him at Round 6, Pick 26. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
If Kadyn Proctor and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Kadyn Proctor
In the 3rd pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Pick20
Rnd1
Trevor Goosby
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trevor Goosby in pick No. 20, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick37
Rnd2
Nyck Harbor
Nyck Harbor in Round 2, Pick 5 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick68
Rnd3
Michael Taaffe
By-the-book stuff, Michael Taaffe at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick103
Rnd4
Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis at pick 103 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick145
Rnd5
CJ Baxter
No edge and no loss on CJ Baxter in slot 145; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146
Rnd5
Sammy Omosigho
They took Sammy Omosigho at par in slot 146, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick148
Rnd5
Aaron Graves
They reached a country mile for Aaron Graves at pick 148, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick204
Rnd6
Elliot Washington II
Elliot Washington II in the 204th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick241
Rnd7
Trey Holly
A wild overpay on Trey Holly in No. 241, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
